Using Donor Eggs or Sperm Overview
Donated eggs/sperm may be used only with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). After the first part of the IVF process known as egg retrieval, the partner’s eggs (or donor’s eggs) are fertilized with the partner’s sperm (or donor’s sperm). When the embryos are ready, they are transferred to your uterus. Your doctor will have given you medication to time your cycle so that your uterus will be in the right stage to receive the embryos.
Egg and sperm donors are usually between the ages of 21 and 34 and you may choose them from an anonymous database, all donors undergo extensive medical and psychological screening.
The odds of a woman getting pregnant using fresh embryos created from donor eggs are more than 80%. If male factor infertility was the main cause of the couple’s inability to get pregnant, the use of donor sperm also boosts success significantly.
IVF Saint Germain Egg/Sperm Donation Program
IVF Saint Germain’s world-class physicians and scientists have worked together to provide the highest level of fertility care, and the Egg/Sperm Donation is essential in treating the most complicated fertility cases. IVF Saint Germain offers an internationally renowned Egg/Sperm Donor and IVF treatment program respected. All our donors undergo a comprehensive health check and are screened for infections. Donors are selected only if they meet certain criteria for health and fertility and in this way we can ensure our success rates remain high. Egg recipients are matched with a donor who has similar characteristics to them, e.g. hair color, eye color and build. If you choose to have a donor recipient cycle at IVF Saint Germain the procedure will be explained in detail and you will be supported every step of the way through your individualized care. Your egg/sperm donor will have had an AMH test or a semen analysis before they are accepted as a donor, indicating that they have a good egg reserve/sperm quality, so you would always have a good selection of embryos to choose from.
